Shiraz was created using the energetic talents of guitarist/vocalist Jamie Hopson and lead vocalist Karen MacDonald. With the latest technology backing tracks, stunning lighting effects and terrific crowd rapport Shiraz guarantees a great nights entertainment. The duo uses top quality equipment including a powered sub-woofer to create a quality of sound to rival any 4 or 5 piece band.
Jamie and Karen pride themselves in the art of stage presence and enjoy
the challenge of getting even the most difficult crowd up on the dance floor. Karen actually comes from a theatrical background with both her parents being involved in many aspects of the theatre and performing arts and was on stage from the tender age of 11. Although Karen plays the guitar, Jamie is also the driving force behind the duo with his amazing guitar solo’s and skill in all aspects of the craft. He has been playing and performing in public since the age of 14 years. Jamie has also won awards through his passion for music.
The pair have been in various bands before which has well prepared them for this act. Both Jamie and Karen are passionate about what they do and in ten years have developed a list of various hotels and venues which they play regularly. The pair have performed as far South as Bremer Bay, as far east as Newdegate, as far north as Geraldton and have covered nearly every hotel in between. They pride themselves in professionalism, dedication, reliability and punctuality. Relocating from Bunbury to the Rockingham area they are now looking for new venues to play.
Recently the duo were the support act for the Grace Knight Jazz Quartet (former singer of the Eurogliders) and also played before the Screaming Jets.
Jamie and Karen perform songs from the 50’s right through the decades to the modern songs of today. They can provide for a purely easy listening acoustic booking or can entertain with the full show which incorporates a spectacular visual lighting performance with lights that are programmed and change colours to reflect each individual song. A smoke machine, backdrops and banner are also used to complete the effect. Shiraz bookings include various hotels, resorts, corporate functions.
