From Thelonius Monk to Fats Waller, and Tom Waits to the Beatles, expect to hear some interesting arrangements from Kim Anning. Quality musicianship and vocals will have your toes tapping and your ears pricked with a vast repertoire of Tin Pan Alley standards. Expect solid renditions of Cole Porter, Gershwin, Richard Rogers, Irving Berlin and Johny Mercer to name a few. He also has more contemporary jazz from Thelonius Monk, Horace Silver, Dave Brubeck and Nat Adderly in his arsenal. If jazz isn’t your style, then Kim can play some retro pop and rock from the likes of Ray Charles, Beatles, Creedence, Carol King, Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits.
Kim has been playing jazz in various combinations since the late 1970’s (starting with J.T. and the Jazzmen) including freelancing with various jazz bands, backing international artists and a 10 year stint in a restaurant playing solo instrumental background music. More recently he has been seen in duo form with Libby Hammer and various other singers as well as leading Blue Monk at the Perth Jazz Society, Jazz Club of W.A., Jazz Fremantle and Ellington’s.
