Nikki Dagostino AKA the ‘Red Beret’ started playing Classical piano at age 9 and the piano accordion at age eleven. She studied at Edith Cowan University, and WAAPA, completing a Bachelor of Education; majoring in Music and Drama.
She received a scholarship for the Golden Key International Honour Society Award, in recognition of outstanding scholastic achievement and excellence in educational studies.
Nikki Dagostino is Perth’s foremost Multicultural Musician and piano accordionist. She has played throughout the Western Australian region earning high praise and phenomenal feedback. She has performed as a soloist amongst countless alluring settings in WA, including winery festivals, spring in the valley tours, food shows, cocktail events, and much more.
She has worked, performed, supported and toured with National and International artists including: the U.S phenomenons; Toni Childs and The Drifters, as well as touring Nationwide with Ireland’s riverdance group ‘Ceol Chirrai’. Nikki has also performed with and supported national icons such as Graeme Lyall, Darryl Somers, James Morrison, Don Burrows, Marcia Hines, Joe Chindamo, Rove Mc Manus, Darryl Braithwaite, Patrick McMann, and Tony Pantano. Nikki had the honourable pleasure of serenading our past Prime Minister Mr. Kevin Rudd and his fellow politicians at a private dinner party setting, as well as owning the memorable experience of performing at the honourable and memorable Australian War Memorial in 2009.
She has had lot of Media coverage, appearing on TV, Telethon and airtime on Radio.
Nikki had the breathtaking experience of performing at our very own Perth International Arts Festival- Becks Music Box, where she opened and supported America’s ‘sweetheart’: Joanna Newsom. During this time, Nikki was also involved in the Perth Fringe World Festival- performing inside the De Parel Speigeltent.
Nikki is currently collaborating with young, fresh, vibrant and professional Circus performers, comedians, and musicians… ‘Cirque’ Apetit’ are a ‘sprucey’ cabaret variety ensemble: showcasing a dish of delicious aerial dance- trapeze, ropes, hoops, silks, swings, live music, comedy and much more.
One of Nikki’s most recent outfits is a 3 piece French ensemble known as ‘Red Beret Trio’. Composed of double bass, acoustic guitar and accordion, their repertoire combines the exotic sounds of jazz fusion, married with Spanish and flamenco flavours.
Parisian’s divine elegance- Pascale Michel Band, is a 6 piece vibrant French outfit that Nikki has been a member of since the age of 17. Reminiscing the true sounds of Paris, this act expresses the vintage and classic sounds of Edith Piaf repertoire with a unique performance and niche visual show to dazzle the crowd.
Nikki’s solo accordion act “Red Beret” caters for any crowd, atmosphere genre and style. Her repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the Contemporary- touching on a dash of Western Tradition Classical and 20th Century pieces, a splash of Irish Gigues, a hint of German Polkas, an array of Italian Waltzes, Tango’s, and Tarantella’s, and overall a great selection of French Favourite, ideal for ambient background music- including all of Piaf’s repertoire.
Nikki can also do a duo gig with the vivacious and voluptuous Sassy Catch – when these two sensuous Sirens get together you are guaranteed a great gig!
