Take a trip down memory lane with Sounds of The Past – this duo consists of two very experienced performers – vocalist Cherri Bonney and guitarist Mike Bush, playing classic tunes spanning from the 30s to the 80s.
Cherri Bonney was born in the Riverland town of Renmark, in South Australia. She started singing at four-and-a-half years old, composing her first song at age twelve. Cherri learnt to play autoharp, guitar & vamped piano, joining her first band at age 17 in South Australia, and has travelled extensively, spending five years as lead vocalist with ‘Junkmale’ in Tasmania. Cherri Bonney is influenced by Linda Ronstadt & Tina Turner, and has a rare 3.5 octave range and a repertoire covering classic Jazz, Country, Rock, Pop, Soul & Blues.
Mike Bush was born in Cambridgeshire, England, and was musically influenced by The Shadows and The John Barry 7. Mike learnt to play guitar in the mid 1960s, performing in several bands, travelling around the UK, France & Spain. Mike was fortunate in later life to meet and discuss music with some of his heroes, one being Hank B Marvin. Mike has recorded with Jimmy Stead (ex JB7) along with partner Cherri Bonney – featuring her beautiful voice & the haunting Saxophone solo of Jimmy Stead.
